Passage: Ihuriro n'itandukaniro ry'abanyarwanda mu guteka

There are different types of kitchen set up in Rwanda due to different classes of people that exist in Rwandan community at large based on their location and various standard of living. However, there are certain things that may be commonly applicable in rural as well as urban areas. The ingredients and spicies they use makes a diference also. For example, the type of food they eat and the preparation thereof. 

Passage

Abanyarwanda baranyuranye mu buryo bw'imibereho yabo ya buri munsi, muri rusange. Ariko hariho n'ibibahuje nk'uburyo bateka ibyokurya barya, n'uburyo babitegura.Kenshi abanyarwanda bakunda kurya ibyokurya bimwe. Urugero ni nk'ibijumba, ibirayi, ibitoke, umuceri, ibishyimbo, amashaza n'imboga. Kenshi bakunda gukoresha ibikoresho bihwanye mu guteka. Hari abatuye mu mijyi bakeya cyane bategura kandi barya kizungu. Abanyarwanda bose bo mu cyaro no mu mujyi, bazi ko bagomba gukora isuku mu gikoni mbere na nyuma yo kurya kandi babitoza abana babo buri gihe.

 

Passage Translation

In general, Rwandans are somehow different in their daily life. However, they have some common ground like the kind of food they eat and the way they cook. They often eat similar food such as: sweet potatoes, potatoes, banana, rice, beans, peas, and fresh vegetables. They often like to use the same cooking ingredients.Nevertheless, there are very few in the cities who stick on the western way of cooking and eating habit. All Rwandans, in rural and urban areas, know that they should make the kitchen clean before and after cooking and they train their children to do it on regular basis.
