Family relationships in Rwandan culture has a very wide range of connections brought about intermariages. Primarily, a family may be defined as an initial cell made of the father, mother and children. Thereafter, other relationships would be created as children would get married and have children to give in marriage. Later on the in-laws from all facets would be considered part of the large family. They will have so many things in common and support each other in a number of ways. This draws a different meaning in comparison with the western individualistic system which put an emphasis on the nucleus family consideration.
