In this unit, traditional and modern duties and responsibilities of the family members in a Rwandan context are highlighted taking into consideration the difference in rural and urban daily life. The degree of performance in individual duties is measured by the level of awareness, opportunities, skills and education one has been beneficiary of. However, basic skills required for daily routine are effectively acquired from the family, starting from the initial stage of life. Hence, performance of duties at home as a result of daily application of knowledge acquired from family environment is paramount. Presumably, equal opportunity and equitable treatment in the family to promote a better daily life for all children is encouraged at all times in Rwanda.
