The Dinka alphabet contains 33 uppercase and 33 lowercase characters. The following characters make up the Dinka alphabet:

 

 

Knowing the relationships between the vowels is a key to understanding the changes that occur between Non-Breathy and Breathy vowels. The patterns are:

 

 

The first Dinka lesson, the important of this lesson is to learn the greeting, as you greet, you use groups of greetings. Every greeting you use has a different meaning. The way the greeting is used determines what part of the day is. There are six ways of greeting in Dinka: 

 muɔ̈th, Looi ye di ?, Kudual/määthi, Cï yï ruɔn (bäk), ca cool, Cï yï thɛi one thing you need to remember is a different between the “one on one greeting” (Singular greeting) and two or many people greeting (Plural greeting)
