I.) OBJECT PRONOUNS As in English, there are 6 object pronouns in Pulaar: Sing. Trad. Plural Trad. 1st pers. Mi/Lan/An Me Men (inclusive) En (exclusive) Us Us 2nd pers. Ma You On You 3rd pers. Mo Him Be Them The object pronoun always follows the verb. Examples: Himo yewtude mo ……………………………. He speaks/talks to him. Meden ndaarude on ……………………….... We look at you. Himo hollude men maakiti on…………… He shows us the market. An and lan are the same object pronoun. But, an is used when it follows ends with any different consonant. Example: Addanan ……………………………………........ Bring for me. N.B: The first an is benefactive infix we’ll see it later on. Whereas lan is used when the verb it follows ends with a vowel. Example: Reedu no musuude lan ……………………… My stomach hurts (me). Hollan ……………………………………………….. Show me. II.) The use of the descriptive adjectives 1.) Predicative Adjective Example: Reedu makko ndun no njandi …………………. His stomach is big. Rule: Descriptive adjective = No + Root of the verb + I (Be + adjective) A predicative adjective follows “no” (be) 2.) Attributive Adjective Example: Nawnudo on fotti e doctor mojjo…………….The patient met with a nice doctor. Rule: Attributive adjective = Root + article of the noun. P.S: If the article ends with” in” and “on”, the “n” is dropped e.g: Leydi yaajundi; gorko mojjo When the verb ends with “egol” we will replace the “e” with “a” e.g: Labegol………………. Debbo labado; III.) Comparative: No buri and No fota. Structure: 1st element of comparison + no buri + 2nd element + Adj. No fota: No fota is the comparative of equality. Always it is used to make a comparative of two equals’ elements. Example: Mamadu e Amadu no fota njandude……………… Mamadu is as tall as Mamadu. Structure: 1st element + e + 2nd element + no fota + Adj. N.B: We’ll see no buri and no fota later on in details.
